RETENTION

When we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment. Retainers are designed to maintain proper alignment of the teeth. Dr. Rigsby recommends that every patient wear their retainers full time for the first 12 months after the braces are removed. He will periodically check the patient and the retainers during that time at no additional fee. After 12 months the patient can begin to wear the retainers at night only and will be placed on an "as needed" basis at our office. At the time of the deband the patient will be given a set of clear temporary retainers to hold the teeth until the permanent retainers return from the lab. The first set of temporary and permanent retainers are included in the treatment fee. If the patient loses or breaks their retainers a replacement fee will be charged.
